The Bad Mood Turns Against The One Who Carries It

The bad mood turns against the one who wears it

We usually replicate the way they treat us and, according to psychologist Elisa Múgica, this is due to mirror neurons, which incite us to act in the same way as they do with us.  These famous and interesting neurons are responsible for contagious yawning, that we smile when they give us a smile or that we get in a bad mood when someone angry addresses us.

Therefore, all the insults and borders that come out of our mouths end up finding their way back, wreaking havoc on our personal and emotional balance. A bad mood is like being in resistance with oneself, with others and with the situations that happen to us.

One of the explanations that are contemplated to explain why some people are constantly in a bad mood, despite the fact that life has given them fortune, is that they have too big an ego. Little or nothing seems good to them and they think that reality has a special effort that their expectations are not met, hence their constant bad mood. In this sense, tormented humor is the state of mind that makes us both small and slaves at the same time.

Where does our bad mood come from?

The trigger for a bad mood can be any circumstance. Humor is a state of mind in which we settle for many factors. Some experts conclude that the  expectations are not met, for example, make us more likely to have  maladjusted thoughts and that’s what ends up putting us in a bad mood.

Tal Ben Shahar, professor of Positive Psychology at Harvard University, assures that anger has its function, it is like a valve that, when opened, relieves the pressure that a person is subjected to when faced with a circumstance that affects them. If someone is fired from work, it may be more productive for oneself to accept the anger that such a circumstance produces than to deny it.

Bad mood can also be explained, as long as there are no neurological disorders, such as a state of mind in which a  denial of reality generally occurs. People who are continually in a bad mood are rarely satisfied with what they have. Their unbalanced expectations produce great frustration that translates into anger and bad humor, causing them to see the situation in a more negative way than it really is or can be.

Bad mood attacks our body and mind

Being continuously in a bad mood causes us psychological discomfort and emotional exhaustion that attacks our immune system. It increases the risk of cardiovascular problems and is a habit that is harmful to the function of the lungs, according to a study by Harvard University.

The grumpy person has feelings of irritation, anger, and rage. He focuses his attention on the external obstacles that prevent him from achieving his goals, which he holds responsible for his frustration. In addition, bad mood generates the need to act physically or verbally in an intense and immediate way.

Physiologically, this state of mind activates the nervous system, raises heart rate and blood pressure, while reducing blood volume and peripheral temperature. It also increases muscle tension and adrenaline secretion, preparing the body for intense efforts.

Due to mounting scientific evidence on the negative impact of bad moods on the body, it is best to count to ten before losing control. Do not you think?
